Do You(th) ARTivism

This Artivism Non-Formal Education Handbook is a practical and inspiring resource created for youth workers, educators, and facilitators who want to support young people in expressing themselves and engaging with social change through creativity. Developed within the DoYou(th) project, it introduces Artivism as a powerful combination of art and activism, using creative expression to raise awareness, build dialogue, and promote social and environmental justice. The handbook is designed as a flexible guide rather than a fixed curriculum, allowing trainers to adapt activities to different contexts, group sizes, and learning environments.

The content follows a clear three-phase learning journey—Engage, Connect, and Empower—helping participants explore their identity, reflect on social issues, and take creative action. It includes step-by-step session plans, reflection questions, facilitation tips, and practical tools for working both offline and online. Through methods such as storytelling, visual arts, performance, and digital creation, the handbook encourages meaningful participation and emotional connection.

This handbook is especially valuable for practitioners who want to create safe, inclusive, and motivating learning spaces. It supports youth workers in turning abstract topics like justice, equality, and sustainability into lived experiences that young people can feel, discuss, and act upon. By using this resource, facilitators can strengthen young people’s confidence, empathy, and sense of agency, helping them discover that their voices and creativity can truly contribute to peaceful and positive change.
